Personal Income Investor Visas:

Panama Personal Income Investor

Immigrant Visa Program

Who Qualifies?:

Economically self-sufficient investors, their spouses, and dependents (children under 18).

Requirements:

Investor must make a US$200,000.00 time deposit (C.D.) in a Panamanian bank for a minimum two-year period.  This amount must be increased by US$5,000.00 for spouse and each dependent (if any).

Benefits:

The C.D.'s interest is untaxed by Panama. This immigration program also entitles the investor and spouse/dependents to apply for permanent Panamanian residency after one year, and eventual citizenship, if desired, after an additional five years.

The personal income investor visa allows investor, spouse and dependents to live permanently in Panama, as long as the deposit is kept in the Panamanian bank.  A provisional (one year) investor visa is issued, and at the end of the first year a permanent visa is applied for and issued.

This investor visa program is ideal for those who don't want to start a business, but wish to enjoy the benefits of living in Panama.

Drawbacks:

This visa program requires a US$200,000.00 time deposit in order to receive the visa.  Getting the required paperwork and documentation authenticated (via apostil or Panamanian consul) for visa application and time deposit is onerous.  All documents must be in order before submission to the Panamanian government (including the National Bank of Panama).  Most documents from abroad require an apostil, or a certification from the Panamanian consulate.  The visa process requires a lawyer.  The Panamanian government is sometimes slow in processing the applications and granting the provisional visas.

An Overview of the Process:

We will provide you with a checklist of all required documentation* for processing the visas and for making the time deposit, as well a specific power of attorney authorizing us to process your visas.  We will also provide you with a standard letter of responsibility, wherein you take financial responsibility for your spouse and dependents (if applicable).  You must procure all required, authenticated documentation, and send it to us, along with the signed power of attorney and responsibility letter.  We'll take care of the rest.  We will assist you with the time deposit process at a Panamanian bank.

The provisional visa process will require at least one face-to-face visit with the Panamanian immigration authorities by the investor, spouse and dependents (if any), as well as an examination by a licensed Panamanian doctor.  A second or subsequent meetings with the immigration department may be required.  We will accompany you, of course, to all meetings.

Our Services:

We provide investor and retiree immigrant visa services to a wide variety of clients, often for those opening corporations and/or foundations.  Our fee for processing, submitting and overseeing the entire provisional (good for one year) investor visa process (including review of all documents, submission preparation, application, follow up and follow through, etc.) is US$1,450.00 for the investor, US$400.00 for the spouse, and US$200.00 for each dependent.  Our prices do not include the initial Panamanian Immigration Service security bond (US$500.00 for each applicant 12 years of age or older), nor the Immigration Service application fee of US$100.00 per applicant, regardless of age.

Our prices include the Panamanian physician exam fees and the blood test fees per applicant, as well as certified translations into Spanish of submitted documentation, carnet fees, and government stamp tax.  Our price is complete (no hidden charges) and includes:

  1. Provision of complete checklist of documents required, along with detailed instructions and orientation to investors.
  2. Provision of specific Power of Attorney for signature by investor (and spouse and dependents, if applicable).
  3. Provision of Letter of Responsibility for signature by investor.
  4. Reception and review of all required documents submitted to us by investor.
  5. All legal fees.
  6. Provision of licensed Panamanian doctor and laboratory for physical exam and HIV test.
  7. Inclusion of good health certification and HIV test with visa application.
  8. All required certified translations.
  9. All government stamps and seals (timbres fiscales) and carnet issuance fees.
  10. Presentation of investor visa immigration application and documentation to Panamanian immigration authorities.  At least one (and possibly more) face to face meeting between investor, spouse and dependents (if any) and Panamanian bank officials is required.
  11. Presentation of time deposit application and documentation to Panamanian bank.  At least one (and possibly more) face to face meeting between investor and Panamanian bank officials is required.
  12. Accompany investor and spouse and dependents (if any) to meetings with bank and immigration authorities.
  13. The reception of any temporary visas.
  14. Oversight and follow up of the visa process, concluding with the issuance of the one year visa.
